Tribute to the Late Siddarth Rattu

It is with great sadness that after a short illness and courageous battle with an illness that the son of the Late Nanak Chand Rattu, Siddarth Rattu has passed away.\r\n\r\nSiddarth Rattu visited the Wolverhampton Buddha Vihara on a number of occasions, and along with his father and family, was responsible for preserving important personal effects of Dr B. R. Ambedkar.\r\n\r\nSiddarth brought with him on every visit some of Dr Ambedkar’s possessions, these included:\r\n

  • His Ink Pen.
  • \r\n

  • Rare photo’s.
  • \r\n

  • Graduation gown.
  • \r\n

  • His walking stick.
  • \r\n

  • Copies of his handwriting.
  • \r\n

  • His Indian Parliament Security Pass.
  • \r\n

  • Round table conference photographs.
  • \r\n

  • Degree and doctorate certificates
  • \r\n

\r\nThe Dr Ambedkar Memorial Committee are very grateful to the Late Nanak Chand Rattu (personal secretary of Dr B. R. Ambedkar) and the Late Siddarth Rattu as well as his family for entrusting them with these historically important personal effects of Dr B. R Ambedkar.\r\n\r\nThese personal effects are on display in the Dr Ambedkar meuseum which is on the site of the Wolverhampton Buddha Vihara.  These personal effects have been taken to Italy for people to see there, they have been displayed in Bedford at a Dr Ambedkar remembrance function.  There has been a request by supporters of the Dr Ambedkar’s mission to take these personal effects to Canada for them to see.\r\n\r\n

Dhamma Chakka Pravatan Day – 12th July 2014

Pictures from Dhamma Chakka Pravatan Day on Saturday 12th July 2014\r\n\r\nBuddhists at Wolverhampton Buddha Vihara celebrate the anniversary of the Buddha giving his first sermon and thus setting in motion the Wheel of Dhamma.  On this day the Sangha was created as the first five monks were taught Dhamma and ordained as monks.\r\n\r\n

45 Years on and still going strong…..

The Dr Ambedkar Memorial Committee was 45 years old on 19th July 2014, many members and supporters gathered the celebrate it’s 45th anniversary after receiving a blessing from the monks.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n
