Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Committee Of Great Britain

Tribute to the Late Siddarth Rattu

It is with great sadness that after a short illness and courageous battle with an illness that the son of the Late Nanak Chand Rattu, Siddarth Rattu has passed away. Siddarth Rattu visited the Wolverhampton Buddha Vihara on a number of occasions, and along with his father and family, was responsible for preserving important personal effects of Dr B. R. Ambedkar. Siddarth brought with him on every visit some of Dr Ambedkar’s possessions, these included:

    • His Ink Pen.
    • Rare photo’s.
    • Graduation gown.
    • His walking stick.
    • Copies of his handwriting.
    • His Indian Parliament Security Pass.
    • Round table conference photographs.
    • Degree and doctorate certificates

The Dr Ambedkar Memorial Committee are very grateful to the Late Nanak Chand Rattu (personal secretary of Dr B. R. Ambedkar) and the Late Siddarth Rattu as well as his family for entrusting them with these historically important personal effects of Dr B. R Ambedkar. These personal effects are on display in the Dr Ambedkar museum which is on the site of the Wolverhampton Buddha Vihara.  These personal effects have been taken to Italy for people to see there, they have been displayed in Bedford at a Dr Ambedkar remembrance function.  There has been a request by supporters of the Dr Ambedkar’s mission to take these personal effects to Canada for them to see.
